Whilst staying at the hotel there are many things to see and do in the surrounding area.  Whether you go shopping, take a country stroll through beautiful woodland, visit medieval ruins or simply relax in our peaceful gardens.

Retford Town Centre is within easy walking distance and hosts a market twice a week.  This charming market town with all types of shops and a victorian Town Hall on the town square.

Newark with the impressive remains of the medieval castle overlooking the River Trent is only 20 miles away.

Lincoln a stunning city with cobbled streets, a magnificent cathedral and something for everyone from the buzzing High Street to leisure facilties on Brayford Waterfront.

Nottingham city centre is only 30 miles away and is great for shopping and also home to the Tales of Robin Hood, Nottingham Castle, City of Caves and Wollaton Hall a tudor mansion including parkland.

Retford is on the edge of Sherwood Forest with the Sherwood Forest Visitors Centre in Edwinstowe only a short drive away.  relish in the rich heritage of Robin Hood when you take a walk through Sherwood Forest where the Major Oak tree is still standing rumoured to be the hiding place of Robin Hood.

Doncaster Racecourse only 20 minutes away is home of the famous St Leger and regarded as one of the finest racecourses in Europe.

Clumber Park is a peaceful woodland with idyllic lakeside walks and the longest avenue of lime trees in Europe.

Pilgrim Fathers tours are available in the area starting off in Babworth village at All Saints Church leading on to Barnby Moor and then to Scrooby to the Manor House the home of William Brewster.  The Mayflower is an extensive tour of the Nottinghamshire area taking each part of the Pilgrim Tour before they set off to America.
